Relocation
Plans Announced
The
School of Dentistry is pleased to announce that the University of
Detroit Mercy Board of Trustees has approved plans for the School of
Dentistry to relocate to Detroit's former Kindred Hospital - Metro
Detroit on Martin Luther King Boulevard near I-96 near downtown
Detroit.
The Kindred property will allow the School to expand from its current 125,000 square foot facilities to over 261,000 square feet, giving the School the opportunity to expand class sizes and provide care for more patients. Renovations on the hospital for the new campus' state-of-the-art needs will begin shortly. The facility will include a high-tech simulation lab, 190 patient operatories, a surgical suite and digital radiology units. The new location will be wired and wireless so students can work from laptops and use computerized equipment in most areas. Coming Home
- Alumni Weekend 2007
Mark
your calendars and plan on attending this year’s Alumni Weekend, which
will be held April 20-21. We have changed locations, and this
year the entire weekend will be held at the Ford Motor Company
Conference and Event Center in Dearborn, right across from the Henry
Ford Museum. The format for our continuing education program
has also changed.
This year’s presenters are all graduates of the UDM School of Dentistry. The morning keynote speaker, W. Paul Brown, DDS ’68 will present Dentistry Meets Virtual Reality and the afternoon will offer a choice of three different learning pods for you to choose from. Attend the Dean’s reception and view student table clinics and earn 6 CEU’s for the day.
Plus you won’t want to miss our Fourth Annual Alumni Auction, which will be held Saturday evening. The event will include cocktails and strolling dinner and your chance to bid on fabulous items while helping to support the School. This year’s auction proceeds will be designated to the fund for the new School. For more information please visit the Alumni Weekend page.
Giving to the School
of Dentistry
Without the help of our alumni and
friends, we could not continue to educate the best and brightest of
future dental professionals, provide the best programs and continue to
add to our curriculum. The clinical experiences our students
obtain using state of the art equipment in many different parts of our
local communities is also a direct benefit from the gifts given each
year. It is because of you that we continue in our traditions
of excellence.
Please consider making a Dean’s
Circle Level gift of $1000 by year-end. Gifts to the School
of Dentistry made by December 31 may be eligible for tax
benefits. Please check with your financial planner on your
specific circumstances. We truly appreciate all of your
generosity each year and look forward to your continued support.
