We're Moving!
I am pleased to inform you that at its June 23 meeting, the University
of Detroit Mercy Board of Trustees approved moving the School of
Dentistry to a location in southwest Detroit adjacent to downtown,
thereby reflecting the University’s ongoing commitment to the
city of Detroit and its revitalization. We are now in the due diligence
phase regarding the purchase of the facility and anticipate occupancy
in January 2008.
This location was selected based on a variety of factors and their future implications for the School to continue providing a quality education to students and excellent dental care to patients. Factors included examining demographic trends, current patient data, financial information plus opportunities to expand student enrollment and increase dental services within the community. The new location also provides ample parking and easy access from area freeways for patients.
This is a unique opportunity to build upon the School of Dentistry’s tradition of excellence by creating a technology rich student-centered learning and patient care facility. I look forward to sharing more details on our vision for this facility with you once the sales agreement has been signed. Your continued support in helping us achieve the significant goal of the UDM School of Dentistry is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,

H. Robert Steiman, PhD, DDS, MSD
Dean
