This presentation will provide a forum to discuss current challenges and opportunities in dental private practice. A review of ethical and legal protections for dental hygienists in the work environment will be highlighted. The standards and ethical codes will serve as a source of discussion, and participants will review and discuss their application in private practice. Harassment in the dental office by patients and colleagues will be discussed with specific situations of strategies to resolve uncomfortable or illegal practices.
At the completion of the course participants will be able to:
- Provide information about current ethical and legal challenges related to employers and employees in hiring, compensation and termination.
- Discuss current standards and ethical codes and the value they have for the provider and the practice.
- Discuss strategies to protect the provider from uncomfortable or harassing situations.
