To receive your continuing education credits, you must check in at the registration desk prior to the start of the course and be present during the course. Credit letters will be giving to individuals after the course is complete and the course evaluation is returned.
The University of Detroit Mercy - School of Dentistry is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry.The American Dental Association's Continuing Education Recognition Program (CERP) approves continuing dental education courses on an hour-for-hour basis.The formal continuing education programs of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry are accepted by AGD for Fellowship/Mastership credit. The current term of acceptance extends from May 2014 through June 2018.
University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry is designated as an Approved PACE Program Provider by the Academy of General Dentistry.The formal continuing education programs of this program provider are accepted by AGD for Fellowship, Mastership and membership maintenance credit. Approval does not imply acceptance by a state or provincial board of dentistry or AGD endorsement. The current term of approval extends from 5/1/2011 to 4/30/2015. Provider ID# 214176.
Certified dental assistants should contact the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) regarding their continuing education credit guidelines and course requirements.
Tuition-paid registrations are processed in the order in which they are received and will be acknowledged in writing (if time permits) or electronically through e-mail.
- Online registration is the preferred method of registering for all continuing education courses. Please visit the individual course webpage and click on the "Register for this event" tab and follow the instructions to complete your registration.

- Mail your registration form and check payable to the University of Detroit Mercy - Dental CE. If you choose to pay for a continuing education course by check, please note that the check must be received by UDM within ten (10) days of registration. If the check is not received within ten (10) days of registration, we will assume that you are no longer interested in the course and will remove you from the course roster and you will forfeit your held seat. For your convenience you may register up until 3:00pm on the day prior to the start of the course with no additional charge. An additional non-refundable fee of $20 dollars per person, per course will be assessed to any registrations received after 3:00pm the day prior to a course or to any same day or walk in registrations.
Please check each program description for the location of the course(s). Registration begins one half hour before the start of each course.
Handouts and Meals
Handout materials, continental breakfast, lunch, and refreshments during breaks are included with all full-day courses unless otherwise indicated. Continental breakfast is included with morning half-day courses. Light snacks are provided for evening courses. If you have special dietary needs (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.), please call (313) 494-6626 at least 10 business days before the start of the course to inform us of your dietary requirements.
Hands-On Courses with Live Patient Treatment
All hands-on courses with live patient treatment require an active United States (individual courses will state which credential is required) license in good standing, and a current BLS CPR card. If you have registered for a hands-on course with live patient treatment, you will be contacted prior to the course and asked to show proof of your license and BLS CPR card. Failure to provide documents prior to the start of the course will forfeit your registration, and you will be unable to participate in the course. All equipment, materials and PPE’s will be provided for you.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
Unless otherwise posted, a full refund less $25 will be granted if notification of cancellation is received by the Institute for Advanced Continuing Dental Education office two weeks (14 or more days) prior to the start of the course. If a cancellation is received less than two weeks (13 or less days) prior to the start of a lecture only course, a full refund less $100 will be granted. If a cancellation is received less than two weeks (13 or less days) prior to the start of a hands-on course, no refund will be granted. Refunds cannot be given for same any day cancellations or no-shows. *There will be a $100 administration fee charged for cancellation or rescheduling of the Local Anesthesia Administration for the Dental Hygienist course, including the clinical session, once the participant is registered in a lecture and laboratory session.

Continuing dental education courses do not necessarily reflect the philosophies of the University of Detroit Mercy pre-doctoral or post-doctoral training programs.
The University of Detroit Mercy Institute for Advanced Continuing Dental Education reserves the right to change or cancel program offerings without notice. Should a significant change occur, every effort would be made to notify registered participants. In addition, fees listed are subject to change at any time.
