Robert Bruce Macintosh, DDS, Clinical Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, is a graduate of the Marquette University School of Dentistry, completed graduate studies at Georgetown University and the University of Pittsburgh, and gained his surgical training at Walter Reed General Hospital in Washington, D.C., the University of Pittsburgh, Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, and the University of Zurich. In his educational emphases on ablative and reconstructive surgery he has endorsed the philosophies and surgical principles of his mentors, Robert B. Shira, Fred A. Henny, and Hugo L. Obwegeser.  In his role as Clinical Professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, he was Coordinator of Residency Education at that institution, as well as Section Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Sinai Hospital of Detroit, and Program Director in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital.  Dr. MacIntosh has served as President of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and has been a career-long consultant to the United States Army and at various teaching institutions.
