Kristina Okolisan-Mulligan

Kristina Okolisan-Mulligan, RDH, BS, MA., earned her Bachelor of Science and Certificate in Dental Hygiene from the University of Detroit School of Dentistry, and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction Education at the University of Detroit Mercy. Kristina has been teaching at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry since 1991, lecturing in Radiology, General Pathology, Oral Pathology, Evidence Based Dental Hygiene Care, and Board Review to dental hygiene students.  Ms. Okolisan is course director in Management of Evidence Based Dental Hygiene Care and co-directs the Radiology and Radiographic Interpretation courses. Kristina also lectures and teaches didactic and clinical radiology to pre-doctoral dental students, graduate students, and dental hygiene students.  She has been the recipient of Outstanding Faculty Awards given by both dental and dental hygiene students.

Ms. Okolisan lectures for the ADHA National Board Review Dental Hygiene Examination Course in the content areas of Pathology and Oral Radiology and also provides CE courses. Kristina is the past Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Section Chair for the American Dental Education Association, and also a member of: American Academy of Oral Maxillofacial Pathology, Sigma Phi Alpha National Dental Hygiene Honor Society, American Dental Hygienists’ Association, and Michigan Association of Dental Hygiene Educators.

Ms. Okolisan’s interests include assessing clinical competency with the development of portfolio, where she serves as the Clinical Competency Advisor to the dental hygiene students.  Her research interests include emerging methodologies and educational research in radiology.  Kristina co-authored a chapter on Oral Pathology for an upcoming text Dental Hygiene: Application to Clinical Practice, and was also a contributing editor for “Modern Hygienist” where her column “Pathways” includes her favorite topics in pathology and radiology.
