Future Students

Student Life

As a dental student, you attend classes with the same students for four years. There are opportunities to develop friendships that benefit you both professionally and personally.

Class Advisor
Each class has a class advisor - a faculty member - who assists the class in planning class activities and solving class problems. Each student has an individual faculty advisor who can assist in guiding the student and resolving issues.

Big Brother/Big Sister
Prior to Orientation and Registration, each incoming student is assigned a Big Brother/Big Sister, an upper-class student who can assist in many ways throughout dental school experience. Student services include academic and personal counseling and tutoring by students and faculty.

Organizations
As part of the student-centered philosophy of the School of Dentistry, dental students participate in various aspects of professional student life. Students organize and coordinate various school-related functions, both professional and social, and participate on School of Dentistry committees.

The Student Government is the student governing body. Student organizations include a chapter of American Student Dental Association (ASDA), Student National Dental Association (SNDA), American Society of Dentistry for Children (ASDS) and professional fraternities such as Delta Sigma Delta, Alpha Omega, and Psi Omega. Other student groups include the Christian Medical and Dental Society, Muslim Dental Student Association, and the Student Research Group.
Students plan and conduct a variety of community service and social activities. The academic year includes participation in community-based health fairs, oral health education, and screening projects.
