Community Rotations
A strong component of the Professional Dental Hygiene Program is the service that the School of Dentistry delivers to the outside community. Part of the school's mission is " … to provide quality dental care to our patients and to serve as a source of information and education to the community". The main objective is the provision of care to the underserved in the city of Detroit.
In addition to providing care at area Nursing Homes (5 locations), Dental Hygiene students provide dental hygiene care at various external sites treating patients that are medically, mentally, emotionally, and periodontally compromised:
