The
degree completion program caters to Registered Dental Hygienists who
have graduated from an accredited dental hygiene program.
At the
University of Detroit Mercy, hygienists can earn a Bachelor of Science
degree in Dental Hygiene utilizing an UNLIMITED time commitment to
finish. A BSDH can increase employment opportunities - beyond an entry
level position - in alternative practice settings: The
Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene requires a minimum
completion of 126 credit hours; the LAST 30 hours MUST be taken at UDM.
The majority of courses are offered on campus only.
Between 63 and 96 credit hours may be transferred from an accredited institution.
- Degree Completion students with a UDMercy Certificate in Dental Hygiene are required to complete the university core courses plus any electives to fulfill 126 credit hours
- Transfer students with an Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene from another college are required to complete all degree completion courses.
For transfer students, a maximum 96 credit hours may be transferred
from a University. From community colleges, a maximum 63 credit
hours may be transferred, however most Community College Dental Hygiene
Programs in Michigan have Articulation Agreements with UDMercy allowing an additional number of transfer credit hours to be accepted.
Requirements for entrance into the Dental Hygiene Degree Completion Program include:
- Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygiene Program
- Overall GPA of 2.5 or above in academic course work
- Completion of the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination
- Current license to practice
- Current CPA Certification
