Division of Dental Public Health

Community service is an integral component of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry's mission to develop socially and ethically sensitive dental professionals. It is a value evidenced in the daily activities of the school and one that helps guide in planning for the future.

The Division of Dental Public Health is responsible for engaging students in a variety of activities including oral health education, prevention programs and targeting underserved populations.  While the experiences are diverse, the goals are the same — to fill unmet needs in the community through direct patient care, to enable students to help others and to give of themselves, and to provide multicultural experiences to enhance the student’s awareness and sensitivity to a culturally-diverse population.

Service to community is so much more than the activity itself.  It is an opportunity for the student to grow and develop into the dental professional the School is proud to graduate.
