Patients
General InformationThank you for your interest in becoming a patient of
the School of Dentistry. Background InformationThe School of Dentistry provides dental care at two
locations. Your First AppointmentAt your first visit, a staff dentist will examine you to
determine the difficulty of your case. What to Expect as a PatientMost of our patients are part of our student clinical program. If you are assigned to a dental student, you will be examined and a plan for your treatment will be developed. This will usually require two or sometimes three visits and may involve making molds of your teeth. Expect to spend three hours for each appointment twice every month until your treatment is completed. PaymentThe School of Dentistry accepts most insurance plans including
Medicaid. You will be responsible for your insurance co-payment
when treatment is provided. Specialty ServicesThe University of Detroit Mercy offers specialty care. The following specialties have clinics:
We also provide dental services for medically compromised patients at University Health Center in Detroit Receiving Hospital. The University of Detroit Mercy also offers patients opportunities to participate in the Faculty Practice Program for those who cannot allow time for treatment in the dental student program. The fees for this clinic are comparable to private practice. A parent or guardian must remain in the clinic building during the treatment of a minor under the age of 18. "Patient Centered" CareWe share with you the responsibility for your dental health. We will help you with regular cleaning and check-ups.
