Strategic Plan 2016

Strategic Plan

A strategic plan is a written document that will point the way forward for the School of Dentistry. It will establish new organizational goals for us and also explain why these goals are important. This process will uncover ways to improve performance, generate new processes, solve organizational processes and ultimately help us to acheive our fullest potential. On behalf of Dean Aksu and the Strategic Planning Committee, thank you to everyone, individually and collectively, for being part of Detroit Mercy Dental’s next strategic plan.  We should be proud of our School’s family and the ability to have discussions that move us forward.

We have developed a new Mission and Vision Statement and established the goals listed below which we will work towards achieving throughout the next five years. Currently, small groups are creating action steps for the established goals.

Strategic Planning Goals 2016-2022

  1. Provide a contemporary, clinically-relevant, interdisciplinary, evidence-based education emphasizing patient-centered wellness throughout all stages of life whose graduates are competent, ethical, and culturally sensitive oral health care providers, prepared for inter-professional practice.
  2. Promote, manage and deliver efficient, quality, patient-centered, comprehensive, inter-professional care in a positive atmosphere through evidence-based practices.
  3. Provide collaborative services, programs, resources, and initiatives that strengthen stakeholder relationships.
  4. Diversify and manage our human, financial and physical resources to assure continued stability and progress of the School of Dentistry.
  5. Strengthen the research infrastructure and support personnel as well as ensure protected research time to facilitate robust scholarly activity, publication, and external funding.
  6. Enhance the equity and inclusivity of the environment and align initiatives to meet the needs of a diverse student, faculty, staff, alumni, and patient population.
