Mobile Clinics

Mobile Clinic

Since the 1970’s, the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry has been active in the Southeastern Michigan area proving access to dental services for underserved populations through several outreach programs.

Today, our mobile programs provide services to children, adolescents, adult and geriatric populations in underserved areas. Preventative services are provided through Shield a Smile as comprehensive services are provided via Titans for Teeth.

These programs provide access to care in dentally underserved areas.  Through our mobile programs, every year thousands of patients receive necessary treatment in order to achieve and maintain oral and systemic health.  Students gain community-based experiences which foster greater skill and confidence in interacting with diverse patients and increase awareness to of the dental care needs in the community.  This ultimately leads to better trust and more effective communication about oral health.

If you are a school or a facility interested in the Seal a Smile or Titans for Teeth services, please contact us at dentaloutreach@udmercy.edu.

Titans for Teeth - Dental Clinic

The Titans for Teeth School Based Mobile Dental Clinic is a 38-foot mobile dental coach, which is an eight chair clinic; four chairs are inside of the van and four chairs are portable units that are set-up on-site, on-location.  Throughout the academic year, the clinic travels to local participating schools in Detroit and Wayne County to provide comprehensive care for K-12 children.  Treatment is performed by dental students under supervision of a licensed dentist and/or dental hygienist faculty.

The Titans for Teeth School Based Mobile Dental Clinic was funded in large part by a grant from the Delta Dental Foundation.
