AEGD Admission

Detroit Mercy AEGD

The Detroit Mercy Dental AEGD program has CODA approval for a total of seven dental student graduates who have fulfilled all admission requirements. The program will start on July 1 and end on June 30 of the following calendar year. Each graduating resident will be awarded a certificate of program completion.

The AEGD Program does not participate in MATCH.

Pre-requisites

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • D.M.D./D.D.S. degree from a dental education program in the United States or Canada which is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)
  • Successful completion of Part I of the National Board Examination prior to applying for admission; Part II before beginning the program
  • Good academic credentials (GPA no less 2.8)
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Application Process

The application process requires:

  • Completion of a PASS application.
    • Applications must be completed and filed with the PASS application service by November 1.
    • Applications will not be considered until all records and fees have been received.
    • The completed PASS application should include all documents requested by PASS. The Detroit Mercy Dental requirements have been listed in PASS.
  • The materials listed below should be sent directly to Detroit Mercy Dental AEGD by November 1Failure to include these required materials will result in the delay of application consideration:
    1. $75.00 application fee paid directly to the University of Detroit Mercy AEGD Program
    2. 2"x2" photograph (with name printed on the back)

If you have missed the November 1 PASS deadline, you are able to download and complete the linked paper application.  Please contact Ms. Sheila Gandy in the Department of Oral Health and Integrated Care to inform her of your plan to complete a paper application.

    Fees and Reimbursement

    Upon acceptance into the AEGD Program, a non-refundable fee of approximately $700 must be paid to ensure your position in the program. This fee will cover your administrative costs for the year.

    Each resident will receive a stipend at the first (PGY1) and/or second (PGY2) level and will be provided with a benefit package consistent with St. John Providence Health System first (PGY1/second (PGY2) year medical residents.

    The AEGD program follows all rules and regulations required of Graduate Medical Education Programs (GME). First year residents (PGY 1) are not allowed to work outside of the program.
