Description of Opportunity: Hygienist duties revolve around conducting initial patient screenings, prophylaxis, periodontal therapies and advising patients on oral health and preventative care. You should have deep knowledge of relevant health and safety rules and a good eye for oral diseases and anomalies. Having a steady hand, great chairside manner, being reliable and able to build trust with patients of all ages is a must. Knowledge of Dentrix and Dexis a plus.

Pay & hours are negotiable.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible at all times.
• Sterilize dental instruments and rooms properly.
• Conduct initial mouth screening and check oral health history.
• Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries and periodontists.
• Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque and/or apply fluoride varnish)
• Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques and flossing)
• Taking x-rays, maintaining documentation and charting on each patient.

Skills:

• Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist.
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations (e.g. HIPAA, OSHA)
• Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• A patient and friendly personality.
• Attention to detail.
• Stamina to meet the physical needs of the job.
• Degree in Dental Hygiene.
• Valid license to practice in Michigan.
• CPR certified.
