Vaccination Policy

Prior to matriculation, students in the School of Dentistry are required to provide proof of immunity or receive vaccinations to prevent the following diseases:

  • Mumps;
  • Measles;
  • Rubella;
  • Tetanus and Diphtheria Toxoids;
  • Pertussis;
  • Hepatitis B.;
  • Varicella.

Students at the School of Dentistry provide direct patient care to patients from vulnerable populations and are scheduled for rotations in healthcare facilities that require these vaccinations. In addition, it is strongly recommended that all dental care providers, including students and volunteers, in any healthcare setting should receive annual influenza vaccination and age-appropriate updates to the COVID-19 vaccination series. Dental providers who decide to forgo the influenza vaccine and/or COVID-19 updates must report the decision to forgo updates and attest that they understand that if they test positive for COVID-19, they will be excluded from the healthcare setting until a negative test can be obtained. Interruptions that affect the timeliness of program completion or successful progression through the program will be addressed according to the Academic Policies Handbook and/or course syllabi.
